About Alexis Maher, LCSW

Hey there! I'm thrilled to connect with you. My name is Alexis, and I'm not just a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, but also someone who's deeply passionate about helping people navigate life's challenges. I had the privilege of earning both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Social Work from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. I also have seven years of experience working in the helping profession.

Now, here's the exciting part - I get to support and empower individuals just like you through the power of telehealth. Yep, that means we can connect and work together from the comfort of your own space, making therapy feel more accessible and convenient for you.

My specialty? Well, I'm here to walk alongside you if you're wrestling with trauma, depression, or anxiety. These are tough battles, but trust me, you're not alone. Plus, I bring a unique perspective to the table. I've worked closely with survivors of abusive groups and those who've struggled with being on either side of abuse. So, rest assured, I understand the complexities and nuances involved.

Together, we'll explore your journey, unraveling layers, and finding those gems of resilience and strength within you. I'm here to listen, support, and guide you towards a brighter, more fulfilling path. Let's embark on this journey together, shall we?

Are you ready to take the first step?

My Values

Holism

The belief that individuals are complex beings influenced by various interconnected factors, including physical, emotional, social, and spiritual dimensions. I recognize that each aspect of a person's life is interrelated and affects their overall well-being.

Collaboration

I recognize that clients are experts in their own lives. I actively involve clients in the decision-making processes, treatment planning, and goal setting, ensuring that interventions align with the client's values, strengths, and preferences.

Empathy

More than just understanding a client's emotions or experiences; it's about truly stepping into their shoes and connecting with their inner world on a deep level. It's about fostering a strong therapeutic alliance built on trust, respect, and genuine human connection.

Acceptance

Acceptance in therapy involves cultivating an attitude of openness and understanding towards clients, allowing them to explore their innermost thoughts and emotions without fear of rejection or criticism. I am also a sex positive, culturally competent, and LGBTQIA+ allied therapist.
